These are intensive study programs in musical theater for students who plan to attend college with a major in the performing arts. We offer two different course selections: PMT's Teen Performance Intensive program which is open to all teens ages 13 - 18, and the half day Pre-College Program (PCP) which is open to high school students ages 15-18. These advanced education programs offer a unique opportunities for students to remain full time high school students while still receiving superior, comprehensive musical theater training from a dedicated and caring professional faculty. An audition is required for entrance into the Pre-College Program, please contact us for details and requirements.
This program is 3 days per week - 2 weekday evenings, and during the day on Saturday.
Please note, this is different than our 5 day a week, half day Pre-College Program.
Subject to change on a per semester basis, but typically Teen Performance Intensive students experience the following:
The students of the Teen Performance Intensive program run their own children's theater company. In the fall semester they produce 30 minute shows for community children in our own Gargaro Theater. The students serve as the writers, directors, choreographers, designers and technical staff as well as perform on stage in these shows.
Students of the Pre-College Program will attend their high school for half of the day, and PMT for the other half of the day to train with our resident artists.
For nearly a decade, Pittsburgh Musical Theater's Pre-College Program has served as a pathway to Broadway, feature films, and University training. Graduates have matriculated at Yale, CMU, NYU, Boston Conservatory, Florida State University, Penn State, Point Park and many others. The Pre-College program offers advanced classes for students with "Broadway Dreams."

Please note: Once tuition has been paid, it is non-refundable. We will be happy to hold a credit for up to one calendar year and will apply your unused tuition to future classes.
