These advanced education programs offer unique opportunities for students to remain full time high school students while still receiving superior, comprehensive musical theater training from a dedicated and caring professional faculty. These are intensive study programs in musical theater for students who plan to attend college with a major in the performing arts.

Students enrolled in the Pre-College Program will attend their high school for half of the day, and spend the other half of their day at PMT training with our working professionals in the entertainment business.
For almost two decades, Pittsburgh Musical Theater's Pre-College Program has served as a pathway to Broadway, feature films, University training, professional theater, and beyond. Graduates have matriculated at Pace, Penn State, Elon, Oklahoma City, Ithaca, Boston Conservatory, CCM, NYU, CMU, University of Michigan, and many others. The Pre-College program offers advanced, in-depth classes for students who wish to make a life long career as a professional in the entertainment industry.

The Teen performance intensive program is an advanced education program offering unique opportunities for students to remain full time high school students while still receiving superior, comprehensive musical theater training from a dedicated and caring professional faculty. These are intensive study programs in musical theater for students who plan to attend college with a major in the performing arts.
The students of the Teen Performance Intensive Program run their own children's theater company. In the fall semester they produce 30 minute shows for community children in our own Gargaro Theater. The students serve as the writers, directors, choreographers, designers and technical staff as well as perform on stage in these shows!
Mondays 4:00PM - 9:00PM, Thursdays 4:00PM - 9:00PM, & Saturdays 9:00AM - 3:30PM
This package includes:
Students in Music Theater Rep will begin to learn the skills required for musical theater style singing, including; reading music, part singing, and how to warm-up their voice properly. They will also begin to build a repertoire of songs that they feel comfortable singing for auditions and have the opportunity to practice singing by themselves in the front of class.
Students in Jazz study proper dance technique, fundamental steps, strength and flexibility. Dance classes are leveled by age and skill level - placement will be according to our principal of sufficiently challenging, while never overwhelming your student.
Students in Ballet will build the foundation of solid ballet technique that is vital to becoming a well rounded dancer and musical theater performer.
Students in Tap or Pointe will learn the proper execution of basic steps, sounds and technique. They will then be challenged to put them together in combinations as they advance in their study.
Students in Acting will use improvisation, theater games and exercises to stretch their imaginations, learn character building and other basic acting skills. Older students will be able to apply these skills to simple text, monologues, and scenes.
