These advanced education programs offer a unique opportunities for students to remain full time high school students while still receiving superior, comprehensive musical theater training from a dedicated and caring professional faculty. These are intensive study programs in musical theater for students who plan to attend college with a major in the performing arts.
We offer three different course selections:
This class is NEW FOR 2020. The Teen Enrichment Arts Lab (TEAL) is an in-person program designed for students in 9th through 12th grade who are engaged in virtual learning in their home school districts. In the TEAL program, students will attend classes Monday through Friday from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM.
Students will explore the fundamentals in acting, singing, and dance; learn the structure of script analysis, writing and music theory, study the history of musical theater, and discover the techniques in auditions and performance. This program is audition based and will be used as a stepping stone into our Pre-College Program.

Students of the Pre-College Program will attend their high school for half of the day, and PMT for the other half of the day to train with our resident artists.
For over a decade, Pittsburgh Musical Theater's Pre-College Program has served as a pathway to Broadway, feature films, and University training. Graduates have matriculated at Yale, CMU, NYU, Boston Conservatory, Florida State University, Penn State, Point Park and many others. The Pre-College program offers advanced classes for students with "Broadway Dreams."

This program is 3 days / week: 2 weekday evenings, and during the day on Saturday.
Please note, this is different from our 5 day a week, half day Pre-College Program.

The students of the Teen Performance Intensive Program run their own children's theater company. In the fall semester they produce 30 minute shows for community children in our own Gargaro Theater. The students serve as the writers, directors, choreographers, designers and technical staff as well as perform on stage in these shows!
