TECHNICAL THEATER

& Design Program


Students ages 13-18 will get a unique look behind the curtain in our Technical Theater and Design Program! This program offers students classroom and hands on experiences in the full range of technical theater disciplines including basics of design in set, lighting, costumes, sound, and properties.

PMT strives to sufficiently challenge, while never overwhelming your student. If you have any questions regarding the best option for your student, please contact us and we will be happy to talk over each program to find the best fit!

No prior experience is required for entrance into our Technical Theater and Design program.

PACKAGES


TECHNICAL THEATER SUPER SATURDAY PACKAGE

Saturdays, 9:00AM - 2:30PM


This program provides students with a unique look behind the curtain by offering in-classroom and hands-on experiences in the full range of technical theater disciplines. Students will develop the skills needed to analyze text, create conceptual drawings and presentations, communicate their thoughts and ideas in a professional manner, and improve their teamwork skills.

Topics of study include basics of design in set, lighting, costumes, sound, and properties. The program also includes courses designed to prepare students to communicate and collaborate with a team of designers. Hands-on experiences will range from technical theater communication and safety to courses where students will learn carpentry, painting, sound editing software, sound console operation, the science of light and lighting, and programming industry standard lighting software.

All of these courses will culminate in the student's ability to work alongside PMT's professional designers on student and professional company productions.


There is no prerequisite for this program.

TECHNICAL THEATER & PERFORMANCE BUNDLE

Saturdays, 9:00AM - 3:30PM and Thursdays, 5:00PM - 7:00PM


This package includes:

SATURDAY CLASSES
Acting
(9:00AM - 10:30AM)

Students in Acting will use improvisation, theater games and exercises to stretch their imaginations, learn character building and other basic acting skills. Older students will be able to apply these skills to simple text, monologues, and scenes.

Jazz
(10:30AM - Noon)

Students in Jazz study proper dance technique, fundamental steps, strength and flexibility. Dance classes are leveled by age and skill level - placement will be according to our principal of sufficiently challenging, while never overwhelming your student.

Musical Theater Repertoire
(Noon - 1:00PM)

Students in Music Theater Rep will begin to learn the skills required for musical theater style singing, including; reading music, part singing, and how to warm-up their voice properly. They will also begin to build a repertoire of songs that they feel comfortable singing for auditions and have the opportunity to practice singing by themselves in the front of class.

Musical Theater Workshop
(1:30PM - 3:30PM)

In the performance-based musical theater workshop class, students will learn dance, acting, and group vocal skills. Divided into acting exercises, singing techniques, choreography, and more, students will combine all these skills, and put them into action to perform musical selections during the semester at a professional theater.


THURSDAY CLASS
Technical Theater & Design Class
(5:00PM - 7:00PM)

This program provides students with a unique look behind the curtain by offering in-classroom and hands-on experiences in the full range of technical theater disciplines. Students will develop the skills needed to analyze text, create conceptual drawings and presentations, communicate their thoughts and ideas in a professional manner, and improve their teamwork skills.

Saturdays, 9:00AM - 2:30PM and Mondays, 5:00PM - 9:00PM

Dance classes are leveled by age and skill level - placement will be according to our principal of sufficiently challenging, while never overwhelming your student.

Ballet
(5:00PM - 6:30PM)

Students in Ballet will build the foundation of solid ballet technique that is vital to becoming a well rounded dancer and musical theater performer.

Jazz
(6:30PM - 8:00PM)

Students in Jazz study proper dance technique, fundamental steps, strength and flexibility.

Tap
(8:00PM - 9:00PM)

Students in Tap will learn the proper execution of basic tap steps, sounds and technique. They will then be challenged to put them together in combinations as they advance in their study.
