Health & Safety

PMT is committed to a safe and healthy environment for all.


Performance Entry Requirements

Applicable to the following performances:

  • A Lyrical Christmas Carol - December 16th - 19th, 2021 at the Gargaro Theater
  • Musical Theater Workshop Showcase - Saturday, December 18 th, 2021

➤ COVID-19 Vaccination Policy:

All patrons ages 13 and older will need to be fully vaccinated with a vaccine that has been authorized by the World Health Organization and must show proof of vaccination at their time of entry into the facility with their valid ticket.

Patrons between the ages of 2-12 do not need to be vaccinated at this time and do not need to provide a negative test, but must wear masks at all times and follow the other PMT health policies.

"Fully vaccinated" means on the day of the performance date as shown on the valid ticket, a patron is:

  • At least 14 days after their second dose of a two-dose vaccine, or
  • At least 14 days after their single dose of a single-dose vaccine

➤ Providing Proof

Proof of vaccination must come directly from the healthcare provider that performed the vaccination.

  • Guests may bring their vaccination card or a photo of their card on their smartphone.
  • Use of a Digital Vaccination Passport App is also acceptable.

The only exception is:

  • Patrons who need reasonable accommodations due to a medical exception or a sincerely held religious belief

For patrons who are not able to be vaccinated for the reasons listed above, they must provide one of the following instead of evidence of vaccination:

  • Negative COVID-19 antigen test taken within 24 hours of the performance start time
  • Or negative COVID-19 PCR test taken within 72 hours of the performance start time
  • COVID tests must be administered by an official testing center such as Quest Diagnostics, LabCorp, MedExpress, etc. Self-administered or at-home tests will not be accepted.

➤ Mask Requirements

All patrons must wear a mask at all times in the facility unless they are actively eating or drinking.


Enhanced Cleaning and Disinfecting
  • High touch areas: Frequent cleaning of all door knobs, handrails, ballet bars, light switches, etc.
  • Exemplary cleaners: All cleaning products used meet EPA & CDC guidelines for disinfecting against COVID-19 and other common bacteria and viral illnesses

Building Ventilation & Air Quality
  • Fresh-air movement: All rooms are efficiently ventilated and cleaned prior to daily use
  • Elimination of pollutants: Brand new filters in our HVAC systems
  • Optimal air circulation: All studios have new, added ventilation to increase airflow
  • Germ killing lights: New UVC germicidal irradiation technology now in use throughout our studios

Staff Training
  • Enhanced training: All PMT Staff and Resident Artists have attended COVID-19 Procedures and Actions Plans training
  • Heightened awareness: All PMT Staff and Resident Artists trained to recognize signs and symptoms, as well as trained on proper cleaning techniques and standards
  • Eliminating the "What if's": Back up staffing plan created

Safety & Prohibited Items

Pittsburgh Musical Theater takes your safety very seriously, and has implemented additional measures to better assure the comfort and protection of all persons who visit or frequent the Gargaro Theater and the West End Canopy. The most critical issue to Pittsburgh Musical Theater is always the safety of our stakeholders; staff, volunteers, visitors, and guests. Our policies are meant to preserve that commitment to security.

  • Oversized bags that exceed 16" x 16" x 8"
  • Weapons of any kind or facsimiles of weapons, including firearms, pellet guns, stun guns, martial arts weapons, pepper spray, pocket/utility knives or cutting instruments
  • Illegal drugs or substances
  • Flammable liquids
  • Fireworks, pyrotechnics, flares or incendiary devices
  • Glass, metal, or plastic containers of any kind including cans, bottles and flasks
  • Outside food or beverages including alcohol
  • Interchangeable/detachable camera lens (No professional photography-unless authorized)
  • Audio/visual recording devices
  • 2 way radios
  • Laser pointers
  • Laptops/tablets
  • Beach balls, projectiles, balloons, permanent markers, spray paint
  • Drones
  • Flashlights
  • Signs, flags, banners
  • Selfie sticks
  • Guests without shoes or shirts
  • Costume masks / masks that are not medical, or are not related to COVID-19 safety
  • Face paints
  • Optical illusions
  • Jewelry that could be used as a weapon including chains and studded bracelets
  • Pets, other than service animals
  • Segways, skateboards, rollerblades, hoverboards, bicycles, helmets, any type of portable seat, other than those approved and required for accessibility
  • Noisemakers, bullhorns, or air horns
  • Unapproved pamphlets, handouts, advertisements

Unattended items left outside venue doors will be discarded to ensure guest safety.

Ticketing & Admissions


Purchasing Tickets
  • PMT utilizes multiple venues in Pittsburgh.
  • All tickets are available for purchase online at www.pittsburghmusicals.com
  • If you prefer to call for tickets and your show is at the Gargaro Theater or the West End Canopy call 412-539-0900 ext. 232
  • If the show is at the Byham Theater please call 412-456-6666.

➤ Do I Need a Reservation?

  • All seats are assigned and must be reserved.
  • All tickets must be paid for at time of purchase.

➤ Are Walk Up Tickets Available?

  • When possible walk-up sales are available, however there is no guarantee that tickets will be available to purchase at the door. Your best option is to purchase online or call ahead during box office hours.

➤ Can My Tickets Be Refunded?*

  • All ticket sales are final.
  • If you cannot attend the performance, after a reservation is made, you must cancel your reservation at least 24 hours prior to the performance you will receive a credit for a future PMT performance of your choice.
  • If you do not cancel 24 hours prior you will not be able to receive a credit.
  • In the event of a cancellation for any reason we will make every effort to exchange your tickets for a future performance of the show. You also have the option of holding your ticket value as a credit with us for one calendar year from the original performance date, or you could also make your ticket price a charitable gift to the theater.

Admissions

➤ When Should I Arrive?

  • We recommend 30 - 45 mins prior to the performance start time. This will allow you time to park, be screened, and still have some time to chat with friends, enjoy our patron amenities, and settle in before the show begins.

➤ What if I Arrive Late?

  • The rules for late seating are at the discretion of theater management, and varies from show to show. In some cases you will have to just wait a few moments for an appropriate time in the show to seat you. In other instances you may need to be seated in an alternative location.

➤ If there is inclement weather will the show be cancelled?

  • With one of our venues being the West End Canopy, if the name did not give it away it is an outdoor venue, there may be the rare occurrence to cancel or postpone a production. If one of these rare instances did occur PMT would make any cancellation decision at least 2 hours prior to performance start time. We will notify patrons via our website and Facebook pages. The box office will work with ticket holders to reschedule their reservations when possible. Otherwise a credit for a future PMT production will be given to the ticket purchaser.

➤ What time will the doors open for a production?

  • Lobby doors will open an hour and a half prior to curtain time.
  • Doors to the theater will open a half hour prior to curtain time.




Concessions


Food & Drink Policy
  • No outside food or beverages are permitted in any of our venues.
  • Drinks and snacks are available to purchase prior to the show and during intermission.



We have taken enhanced health and safety measures at Pittsburgh Musical Theater for our students, resident artists, patrons and staff. You must follow all instructions regarding drop-off and pick-up procedures as well as posted instructions while at the PMT Studios for classes and performances. An inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 exists in any public place where people are present. COVID-19 is an extremely contagious disease that can lead to severe illness and death. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, senior citizens and those with underlying medical conditions are especially vulnerable. By attending classes and performances you voluntarily assume all risks related to exposure to COVID-19. Do your part for the safety and health of yourself and others!
