at Pittsburgh Musical Theater

The professional company performs Broadway shows at the Byham Theater in The Pittsburgh Cultural District and The Gargaro Theater in house at Pittsburgh Musical Theater. Season open auditions are held at our West End Studios in Pittsburgh. (Directions)

WAITRESS

Auditions: January 24, 2025

Callbacks: January 25 & 26, 2025 (IN PERSON ONLY)

Auditions and callbacks will be held at 327 South Main St. Pittsburgh PA 15220

Video auditions are also accepted, but in-person auditions are preferred.

Applicants should prepare:

Two short cuts in the style of the show. (Musical Theater, Pop or Rock and Roll songs are acceptable.)
A headshot / resume.

Currently seeking:

[JENNA] – Female, 20’s-30’s. Any ethnicity. Must have a fantastic pop/rock voice with great range. PRINCIPAL.
[DAWN] – Female, 20’s, any ethnicity. She youngest of the waitresses. Must have an excellent pop/rock/folk voice. PRINCIPAL.
[BECKY] – Female, early 40’s-early 50’s, ANY ethnicity. Must have a soulful pop voice with an excellent pop belt. PRINCIPAL.
[DR. POMATTER] – Male, 30’s-early 40’s, any ethnicity. Must have impeccable comedic timing and must move well. Should have a very strong pop/rock tenor that can navigate the musical style of Sara Bareilles with ease. PRINCIPAL.
[EARL] – Male, 20’S-30’s. Jenna’s husband. Actors auditioning for EARL would need to come prepared with a song in the vein of Elton John or a similar contemporary singer/songwriter. Guitar playing a plus. PRINCIPAL.
[OGIE COVER] - Male, 30’s, any ethnicity. Should have excellent comedic timing. Must have an excellent pop/rock tenor/baritenor sound. PRINCIPAL.
[JOE] - Male, 60’s-70’s, any ethnicity. The owner of the diner where Jenna, Dawn, Becky, and Cal work. A sarcastically funny and no-nonsense guy with a keen ability to read people. Very funny. UNDERSTUDY
[CAL] - Male, any ethnicity, 40’s. CAL: A chef at the diner. Should have a strong pop/rock voice with great comedic chops. Must have a strong contemporary baritone singing voice in the style of Sara Bareilles and have excellent comedic timing.
[MALE ENSEMBLE] - Males, any ethnicity, ranging from Mid-Late 20’s to late 40’s. Must have excellent pop/rock voices in the style of Sara Bareilles. Must have excellent comedic timing and be able to play a range of characters comprising the community in which the story takes place. Must be strong movers/dancers. 3 MALE ENSEMBLE PLUS 2 MALE SWINGS 2
[FEMALE ENSEMBLE] - Females, any ethnicity, ranging from mid 20’s to late 30’s. Must have excellent pop/rock voices in the style of Sara Bareilles. Must have excellent comedic timing and be able to play a range of characters comprising the community in which the story takes place. Must be strong movers/dancers. 4 FEMALE ENSEMBLE PLUS 2 FEMALE SWINGS

First rehearsal: April 14, 2025

Opening: May 1, 2025

Closing: May 25, 2025

Maximum workweek hours: 36

Maximum daily hours: 7 out of 8.5

Number of long rehearsal days (10 hours out of 12): NONE

Overtime rate: 1.5 times the contractual pro-rate per half-hour

Equity Ratio: 3 Actors (inclusive of 1 Chorus Contract) not including the Equity Stage Management staff

$690/week

Non-Equity stipend: $750-$1500

No Housing/Travel Provided. Local (PITTSBURGH) talent will be given precedence.

Students

Only students of PMT Conservatory at Pittsburgh Musical Theater may audition for productions in the company's season.
Any student under the age of 18 cast in Pittsburgh Musical Theater's professional company Main Stage season is cast directly out of PMT Conservatory.
